The Senior Market Research and Competitive Insights Manager drives primary qualitative and quantitative market research projects to inform strategic product and market decisions, improve the way we target and speak to our customers, support Thomson Reuters as a thought leader, and deepen competitive insights.
In this role, you will :
- Efficiently execute custom primary qualitative and quantitative research studies aligned with Thomson Reuters' top priorities using a combination of in-house resources and outsourced vendors.
- Recommend appropriate methodologies and approaches to address objectives related to market assessments, marketing guidance, product and proposition development, thought leadership, and competitive insights.
- Enable our business partners across Thomson Reuters Marketing, Product Management, and Customer Markets to make more informed decisions by becoming an expert on our customers, markets and competitors.
- Use secure generative AI tools to maximize efficiency, including effectively leveraging previous work.
This position reports to the Sr. Director of Market Research & Competitive Insights within the Product Marketing team. This is a hybrid role, working at least two days per week from one of the Thomson Reuters hub locations (Eagan, MN; Dallas, TX; Ann Arbor, MI).

In this opportunity as a Senior Market Research and Competitive Insights Manager , your primary responsibilities will include :
- Identifying appropriate methodologies to accomplish business goals and research objectives
- Effectively managing and coordinating research staff and external vendors to ensure the delivery of timely, actionable, and customer-based information to support informed decision-making within the organization
- Developing concise, actionable reports that highlight critical information to guide strategic decisions
- Formulating recommendations based on research findings
- Leading effective results presentations with senior level audiences
- Leveraging and optimizing existing research results
- Managing time and budget resources across projects and client groups
- Developing and maintaining expert knowledge of market research techniques and Thomson Reuters markets
- Identifying new and innovative methodologies to uncover insights.
- Communicating effectively with internal research sponsors and other market research team members
- Proactively developing strong internal client relationships, acting as a trusted partner and seeking ways to maximize value-add
About You
You're a fit for the role of Senior Market Research and Competitive Insights Manager , if you have :
- 8+ years of market research experience within a corporate or research company setting
- 4 year college degree required; Masters degree preferred.
- Expertise in a range of quantitative and qualitative research techniques.
- Ability to identify appropriate market research and competitive intelligence methodologies to accomplish business objectives.
- Superior problem solving and analytical skills; comfort with quantitative data analysis is essential.
- Detail-oriented without sacrificing a broad strategic perspective.
- Expert PowerPoint and data visualization skills along with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience working with senior management and making executive presentations.
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple / competing priorities and work with sensitive and confidential topics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid project management and organization skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with Microsoft Office software applications, especially PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel for in-field market research, when necessary (a few times per year).
