Thisis a bargaining unit position responsible for the care oflaboratory animals in accordance with applicable safety sanitationand researchrequirements.
Ongoingtasks may include thefollowing :
Feed care andobserve the physical condition of mice rats and other lab animalsfor signs of disease or illness. Must follow strict protocols andinstructions written or orally presented inEnglish.
Operate cage andbottle washers autoclaves and bedding dispensing / disposalequipment. Move / lift heavyequipment / animals.
Maintainappropriate room animal receipt and otherrecords.
Participate inand perform euthanasia of smallanimals.
Order and storefeed andsupplies.
Clean andsanitize equipment rooms andfacilities.
Anyother duties as assigned bysupervisor.

Thisposition is governed by the Minnesota Teamsters Public and LawEnforcement Union Employees Union Local320.*
RequiredQualifications :
High schoolgraduate orGED.
Must be able tolift / push 50pounds.
Must be able tounderstand and follow written and oral instruction inEnglish.
Must be able towork an early schedule Monday through Friday 6 : 00 am 2 : 30 pm. Musthave availability to work occasional weekends and holidays.
Ifassigned to be a driver must pass a department of motor vehiclerecordscreening
PreferredQualifications :
Three (3) monthsof education related to laboratory animals or three (3) monthsexperience with laboratory animals or three (3) months experiencecaring for cleaning feeding monitoring and medicatinganimals.
Experience withrodents.
