Title : Quality Manager Team(s) : Quality Assurance, Verde 1 Reports To : Director of Quality Assurance Overview : The QA Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, documentation and maintenance of the company’s food safety and quality programs and systems to assure product wholesomeness, consistency, and compliance with USDA FSIS.
The QA Manager will need to be self-motivated and attentive to current trends and developments in the quality and food safety fields.
They will upgrade Verde Farm’s programs as necessary and appropriate. Roles and Responsibilities : Responsible for all aspects of food safety, quality, and organic compliance and documentation as defined in the plant and department procedures.
Work with all departments of the factory to review current Food Safety practices and implement improvements of these current practices to continue to elevate Quality and Food Safety.
Manage the Sanitation team to ensure program compliance and clean working / production environment. Manage the plant SQF food safety systems to ensure adherence to product specifications, GMP’s, SOP’s, HACCP requirements.
Assure accuracy of records and documentation. Supervise QA staff in accordance with company policies. Coach and develop team including documenting any disciplinary action in accordance with established policies.
Oversee staff schedules, including work assignments, training, vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, and back up for absent employees.
Be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Ensure proper follow up and execution of action items from QA issues that may arise.
Maintain a team environment and high employee morale. Display & demand professional conduct at all times. Lead all regulatory and third-party visits for the facility, including development and execution of corrective actions.
Assist QA Director in different projects as needed. Perform other duties as required. Competencies : Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or another related field.
Five to eight years of food industry experience (meat industry highly preferred). 3 years of Supervisory experience. Working knowledge of USDA regulations.
HACCP Certification required. SQF Practitioner required. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus. Available to work weekends and off-hours to support the department and the company.
Able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time Must be comfortable walking for extended periods of time in a cold environment. Powered by JazzHR
