Electric Panel AssemblerSUMMARY :
Apply electrical principles to assemble and install electrical wiring, components, and equipment into electric control panels.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.
- Perform complex wiring and assembly operations on assemblies and sub-assemblies.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Inspect wiring installations, assemblies, and other electrical components.
- Conduct functional testing of equipment while energized up to 480 volts .
- Use and maintain fabrication tools for electrical and mechanical assemblies such as crimpers, wire stripping tools, and label machines.
- Working with engineering and quality control on issues relating to bill of materials, drawings, schematics.
- Demonstrate electrical safety practices and use of proper PPE as required.
- Manufacture prototypes of new products, identifying problems and providing feedback.
- Work with production engineers to obtain new tools and equipment when required.
- Keep organized and a clean workspace.
- Ability to train and guide other operators.
- Any other similar or associated duties necessary to accomplish job objectives, or as assigned by the immediate supervisor,
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each ESSENTIAL DUTY satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.
- Education - High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience 2-4 years electrical work with industrial control panels or 3-5 yrs. of experience or transferable knowledge from similar industries required.
Conduct functional testing of equipment while energized up to 480 volts .
Language and Communication Skills : The ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. Fluent in English.
Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret charts.
Reasoning Ability : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to Work Independently - Demonstrated capacity to manage tasks and projects with minimal supervision. Strong self-motivation and initiative to identify and solve problems proactively.
Ability to make informed decisions and take responsibility for outcomes. Ability to maintain productivity and quality of work while working autonomously.
- Certifications - Electrical or Electronic Technology certification preferred but not required.
- Familiar with IEC style schematics
- Knowledge of UL 508A design concepts
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : None
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
The ability to stand 8+ hours a day. The ability to reach and bend. The ability to frequently lift, push, or pull, up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
Manual dexterity is required. The ability to wear safety shoes. The employee must be able to work in a state of constant alertness and in a safe manner.
WORK ENVIRONMENT : Manufacturing and warehouse work areas. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
