Position Summary

The mission of the Division of Inclusive Excellence (IE) is to ensure that the University’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is embedded throughout all aspects of the University and its operation.

Inclusive Excellence is charged to provide vision, leadership, and support to the university as it works to achieve its goal of being a welcoming and caring campus where all members of the Hornet community belong.

Embedded within this goal is ensuring the success, development, and retention of all our students as well as the faculty, staff, administrators, and other Sacramento State stakeholders.

The Project Management Specialist reports to the Chief Diversity Officer and provides comprehensive project management support, including both substantive and administrative / design work for Inclusive Excellence.

The position requires a high level of independent thinking and the ability to develop and implement project work plans on a wide range of projects within IE.

The Project Management Specialist is responsible for tracking, collecting, managing, and reporting a variety of data sets relevant to the work of the Office for Cultural Transformation (OCT) which includes but is not limited to the areas of Belonging Education and Support, Employee Resource Groups and Cultural Initiatives, and Organizational Culture Change.

This position provides administrative and analytical support to various operations within IE. In addition, this position serves as a liaison between IE and campus partners, ensuring effective and professional communication and service.

FLSA : Exempt (Not eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range : $5,273 per month - $5,690 per month

CSU Classification Salary Range : $5,273 per month - $9,537 per month

Minimum Qualifications

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and / or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods.

This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor’s degree and / or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and / or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Required Qualifications

Required : Must be comparable to the Minimum Qualifications, appropriate to the skill level of the position, and would allow an incumbent to satisfactorily perform the Essential Functions of the position.

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and / or equivalent training and administrative work experience.
  • Experience in project management and / or program implementation in a related field of focus, such as work focused on equity, diversity, and inclusion programs or initiatives;

social science research and / or campus climate assessment; higher education student services or administration; education-industry project management and development; etc.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced time management, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work autonomously, be organized and exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to build effective workgroups by assisting in goal setting, defining responsibilities, and adhering to deadlines
  • Familiarity with collecting, analyzing, organizing, and reporting data. Ability to develop data-informed formal reports and presentations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence
  • Superior political acumen and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively and diplomatically with multiple constituencies
  • Ability to handle sensitive and / or complex situations with confidentiality and discretion
  • Proficiency in standard office programs such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
  • Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community.
