Summary
This is an Inpatient Cardiac Rehab role, working with cardiac inpatient's in the new Malone Family Tower - educating patients on the benefits of cardiac rehab, risk factor management, and entering referrals for the patient to their home hospital to start outpatient cardiac rehab.
This position is important to help facilitate enrollment in outpatient cardiac rehab and help the patient start to alleviate any barriers that might prevent them from enrolling.
As needed, the Cardiac Exercise Instructor may also guide outpatient (Scarborough campus) cardiac rehab classes in proper exercise form adjusting the workout format and intensity to the individuals in the group.
This position works independently, with guidance from the multidisciplinary cardiac rehab team (Exercise Physiologists, Nurses, Etc.)
- Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education : Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Sports Medicine, or related field, current enrollment in one of these areas of study, or equivalent experience required.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
- License / Certifications : Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. Current ACLS preferred or ACLS Course Audit required.
- Experience : Two years of exercise leadership preferred. Personal exercise experience required. Cardiac rhythm interpretation and monitoring experienced required.
Clinical experience with special populations and expertise required.
