Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a high-priority search for a Bookkeeper on behalf of our client, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering communities through education.

This is an exciting direct-hire, onsite position in Seattle, Washington.

Responsibilities :

  • Manage all aspects of accounts payable and assist with accounts receivable.
  • Handle cash receipts and disbursements.
  • Regularly collaborate with Facilities, Development, and Extended Day departments, as well as division heads, to reconcile monthly financial activity.
  • Serve as a point of contact for other departments within the school as needed.
  • Maintain and reconcile all general ledger accounts monthly.
  • Oversee accounting functions through to the preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Provide monthly budget-to-actual reports for specific accounts.
  • Manage all payroll functions, including reviewing tax returns, reports, and W-2s generated by the payroll processing company (ADP) to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare reports for the CFO to be reviewed by various agencies and organizations on a monthly, quarterly, or as-needed basis.
  • Prepare schedules for the annual financial audit and provide additional support for audits as required.

Qualifications :

  • Comprehensive knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously, prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Strong team player with the capacity to collaborate with department heads, division leaders, and families.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college required.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable, with a quick learning ability.
  • Preferred experience with database management systems.

Compensation :

This role offers a competitive annual salary of $65,000 to $85,000, depending on experience, along with a robust benefits package that includes healthcare, dental, and vision coverage, as well as ample professional development opportunities.
