Works with internal and external partners to promote the mission of the college, foster academic achievement, and provide guidance and support to students as students make thoughtful educational choices.
Plans, directs, and implements programs designed to improve CNM student retention and success. Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists students with exploration of academic options, set academic goals, and provide detailed program and course information.
- Provides advisement support to students interested in all academic programs; facilitates career exploration and assists students with major declaration.
- Provides assistance in navigating college services, policies, procedures and activities including, but not limited to : financial aid, scholarships, registration, orientation, testing, dual credit, disability services, transfer processes and other student services and academic affairs services and processes.
- Provides information on resources outside CNM; identifies academic and support service needs for students; coaches students to appropriate solutions
- Participates in student retention and success programs for community college students including dual-credit students; documents student interaction into college data system;
may supervise work-study students.
- Provides training and workshops for faculty, staff and students; collaborates with other departments, divisions and community agencies.
- Participates on specific college initiatives and teams; implements first year experience strategies.
- Assists students with the development of career plans and major / minor or course selection. Explains requirements for graduation.
Provides referrals through case management for tutoring, counseling, or other student services as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
Preferences :
- Masters Degree
- English-Spanish bilingual
- experience working in an educational setting with first generation or low-income and / or students with disabilities.
