Required : 1 year of experience, Must be Certified Tech, Pan the Table

Under the direction of the Cath Lab Manager, the specialty interventional tech is responsible for the administration of various diagnostic testing including diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations with explanation of procedures and test to patients.

Performs a variety of technical procedures requiring responsible independent judgment and specifically the maintaining of radiological equipment.

Provides maintenance to the equipment and maintains QA for equipment. Displays maturity, flexibility, organizational and communication skills in dealing with other people.

Works cooperatively with other departments and promotes teamwork within the department. Responsible for adhering to all established Hospital Policies and Nursing Standards.

Principle Accountabilities :

1. Performs pre and post care management of cath / EP patients to include vital signs, groin prep, sheath removal and patient / family education.

Transports patients as needed. 10%

2. Scrubs and assists physician in procedures including : diagnostic, intervention and devices in cardiac cath lab and / or electrophysiology lab.

Uses and maintains sterile technique when setting up trays and during procedures. 30%

3. Operates hemodynamic monitor and records physiologic data of patient and reports any changes during case immediately to the physician.

Enters and completes all information into PACS system and confirms transfer of images to WebPins. 30%

4. Operates and maintains x-ray equipment. Able to trouble shoot equipment used. Maintains radiation badges and monitors exposures.

Checks lead on annual basis for any defects, logs findings and reports defects. 15%

5. Participates in orientation of new staff, documents competency. 5% .

6. Restocks supplies in lab daily, maintains adequate shelf stock. Orders external supplies as 5% needed.

7. Participates in on-going performance improvement and quality assurance projects. 3%

8. Performs other work duties as assigned. 2%
