Job Description
Our client is looking for a Systems Administrator to join their team for a contract opportunity in Chapel Hill, NC! This job is mostly remote but requires someone who lives in the Chapel Hill area and can come into the office occasionally.
This position will need to be available to address critical issues outside of regular working hours when necessary. The position also entails triaging support tickets and providing timely assistance to users.
The Systems Administrator will support the department’s research computational infrastructure as a Linux and Windows servers administrator, enterprise data storage administrator, and web server administrator.
It is an absolute requirement that the position performs all its duties in an IT security-aware fashion. This includes among others regular updates of the storage system, virtualization system, SLURM cluster system, IT support ticketing system, Linux and Windows operating system, system backup, protecting research data and respecting privacy.
Top skills you need to have :
- Enterprise virtualization system administration
- Linux Server administration
- Web server administration
- Windows server administration in an Active Directory domain
- Master's degree with 1 year of cumulative IT work experience, or Bachelor's degree with 2 years of cumulative IT work experience, or A combination of relevant education and experience.
Nice to Have :
- Enterprise data storage system administration
- Knowledge of cloud computing and storage administration
- Knowledge of commodity server-class hardware
- Knowledge of computing cluster system administration
- Knowledge of container system administration
