Position Summary
The RCP IV will be expected to focus in critical care areas, participate in research, lead patient education activities and function as a mentor to the AAS degree RCP's.
The RCP IV will have advanced knowledge, critical thinking skills, professional development, and critical care expertise of Respiratory Care procedures.
They will be involved in assisting
with case management and the discharge planning processes. They will be called on to function as chronic pulmonary
patient navigators.
Responsibilities
Develops, monitors and updates Respiratory care plans in agreement with the attending MD in the critical care units.
Monitors patient response to the care plan and communicates with the attending MD to modify the care plan for improved results.
Assumes the teaching role for mechanical ventilation for residents, and fellows at the bedside and in the classroom.
Is a resource for the clinical team and actively participates in daily patient care rounds with the clinical team.
Will respond to ERT, and Code Blue emergencies
Mentors new staff in acute care area.
Assumes the duties of chronic pulmonary disease patient navigator
Direct patient and family education on post hospital respiratory home care needs.
Develops and participates in case management, and discharge planning needs
Actively involved in evidence based research including but not limited to peer reviewed article publications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree is required; BSRT preferred
Current American Heart Association BLS, if not current at the time of hire, must complete within first 6 months of employment and maintained.
American Heart Association ACLS, if not current at the time of hire, must complete within first 12 months of employment and maintained.
Working in the Children's hospital, you are required to have AHA PALS and NRP in place of the AHA ACLS and you must have completed the NBRC NPS exam by 12 months from your orientation end date.
For non-medical center Respiratory care departments AHA BLS and ACLS are required. AHA PALS and NRP are required at 6 months from hire date.
3+ years of experience is required.
Active status with NBRC recommended.
