Position Overview :
Join our Hospital System as a Senior Medical Coder, here you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate coding and billing processes within our acute care facility (handeling inpatient and outpatient accounts).
The purpose of this position is to correctly assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic / procedure PCS codes on clinical encounters in accordance with regulatory and CMS Official Guidelines for coding and reporting to ensure accurate reimbursement.

Responsibilities :
- Assign appropriate DRG and ICD-10 codes to diagnoses and procedures for billing purposes.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation for accurate code assignment.
- Conduct audits to monitor coding accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Adherence to Health Information Management (HIM) Coding policies.
- Interprets and applies American Hospital Association (AHA) Official Coding Guidelines to articulate and support appropriate principal, secondary diagnoses and procedures.
- Aherence to The Joint Commission (TJC) and other third-party documentation guidelines in an effort to continually improve coding quality and accuracy.
- Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmacology, Disease Pathology, and Medical Terminology.
- Knowledge of basic coding conventions and use of coding nomenclature consistent with CMS Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting ICD-10-CM and PCS coding.
- Ability to navigate the Electronic Medical Record to identify appropriate documentation for coding / billing in support of submitted department charges.
Qualifications :
- C?ertified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or CIC Coding Credential (Required).
- Experience working in systems : HB Coding EPIC and 3M (Useful).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical coding, including both inpatient and outpatient experience (Required).
