Why SENTINEL? The Sentinel Program is an enormous and highly complex Mega-Project modernizing the entire Minuteman III ICBM weapon system deployed over tens of thousands of square miles across five states.
Without a doubt, Sentinel is one of the Department of Defense’s (DoD’s) most important acquisition efforts for the next decade, if not longer.
It includes a complete refurbishment of hundreds of aging ICBM facilities to develop and deploy a newly designed, technologically advanced ballistic missile.
The effort will also provide an entirely new command and control system as well as vast array of required support equipment specifically engineered to operate and sustain the new weapon system over the decades ahead.
The program enjoys broad, bi-partisan support at the national level. It is a long-term project the weapon system will deploy over a nine-year period beginning in approximately 2026, and remain operational through at least 2075.

Tell me about this job. BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Computer Systems Architect to strategically craft an organizational, procedural, and technological total data integration solution for the Sentinel system.
The position requires knowledge of data architecture and design, as well as experience with engineering design and manufacturing processes.
Successful candidates will possess experience in at least two disciplines : one software / IT related, and one design / engineering related.
Applicants must be willing to propose and prototype well thought out solutions to highly complex and integrated problems.
Candidates are expected to develop skills to do Digital Engineering / Digital Threading of requirements, design, manufacturing, and test data for the Sentinel system.
Generally speaking, the goal is to incorporate unstructured data from traditional engineering artifacts such as pdfs, Word, Excel documents, and CAD drawings, with modern structured data from SQL databases, commercial applications, and real-time data feeds.
The current technical stack includes Siemens TeamCenter for unstructured data, a data integration backbone for interfacing with structured data and application APIs, and a graph database to create a data mesh.
Together, these technologies make up a total data fabric. Successful candidates must be able to work with data stewards and subject matter experts to craft a community and standards-based approach to data governance, data engineering, and data integration.
Applicants must also be able to conceptualize and communicate a metadata ontology for use in the data mesh.

ASFS
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
10 years' experience with a Bachelor’s degree or higher in data / software engineering, computer science.
Experience architecting, building, and / or maintaining a data warehouse.
Ability to distill technical specifications from customer requirements.
Self-motivated and works well under minimal supervision.
Communication skills (written or verbal), including the ability to help others understand tools, technologies, and processes used to solve a problem.
Active DoD Secret Security Clearance adjudicated within the last six (6) years and the ability to obtain and maintain any necessary Special Program Access.
The criteria for obtaining Clearance and SAP is set by the US Government.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Experience engineering design or manufacturing.
Coding experience in Python, SQL, and / or C#.
Superior organizational skills and an affinity for detail .
Willingness to recommend solutions to improve new and existing database systems.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range : $103590 - $176130
Please note : This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to : business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
