Vice President of Operations ( Construction)

Job Summary

The Vice President of Operations is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the organization.

This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in operations management and business development. The ideal candidate will drive process improvements, enhance operational efficiency, and lead cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.

The Vice President of Operations will report directly to the CEO and collaborate closely with other senior leaders to ensure alignment with the company's strategic vision.

Position and Responsibilities Overview

Responsible for overall performance of Operations Department of client. Responsible for business development, work acquisitions and work execution by all of the groups and business units within the operations department.

• Work with each operations group and business unit manager on both performance and operations of their group(s) or business unit(s), giving them guidance on difficult issues.
• Oversee and / or review all operations department major, difficult and / or legal issues, problems or challenges.
• Group and business unit managers will keep the vice president operations appraised of all major developments and concerns on these types of issues.
• Responsible for development, training, implementation and enforcement of operations department standard policies and procedures.
• Work with other department managers to make sure they have adequate staff and are providing the required services to the operations department.
• Work with each group and business unit manager on staffing decisions. Participate in interview process on all key hires.
• Conduct monthly project management meetings for the purpose of reviewing and / or resolving major performance and financial issues, and keeping all managers updated on department and corporate developments.
• Responsible for overall vision, strategic planning and long-range business development for the operations department.
• Responsible for overall customer external and internal satisfaction and relationships. Work with each group and business unit manager to assure customer satisfaction.
• Maintain proper staff and structure within the operations department.
• Review all employee performance review forms to assure proper personnel interface between employee and the supervisor within the operations department.
• Responsible for overall employee compensation and bonus administration within operations department.
• Review, address and appropriate resolve other department managers concerns related to performance of the operations department.
• Assist with corporate marketing needs.
• Provide leadership mentoring, coaching, guidance and support for all operations department personnel.
• Responsible for overall financial performance of operations department.

Accountability :

• Comply with all company policies and procedures.
• All employees are accountable for safety and health and are empowered to stop work if an unsafe condition is present. Employees should immediately notify their supervisor so that the hazard may be corrected.
• Employees and subcontractors are required to implement and maintain all safety and health systems practices including the training requirements of client Orientation and CPR / First Aid / AED / Bloodborne Pathogens.
• Top level of leadership for major corporate function or strategic business group.
• Owns part of the company business strategy development and support initiatives.
• Establishes directions and leads the development of short and long-term corporate strategies and objectives.
• Determines and promotes company goals, strategies, products, services and achievements to key internal and external stakeholders.
• Ultimate accountability for performance results of the organization.
• Accountable for mission-critical decisions and integrating strategies cross-functionally.
• 20+ years of experience expected.
• Master’s college / university graduate with equivalent combination of skills and experience required.
