Regional AV Manager
The Regional AV Manager oversees all services used to deliver technology to our customers & associates including networking, desktop support, audio, video, HSIA, audio & video conferencing, webcasting, & lighting for different types of meetings & events throughout Convenes NYC region.
The Regional AV Manager works closely with the teams to deliver an excellent meeting, conference, & working experience.
The Regional AV Manager oversees Technology Managers, AV Supervisors, & AV Operations Specialists in supporting / executing customer needs & helps to manage, train, & lead the teams in personal, technical, & career development / training.
The person in this role will also work directly with the sales & event teams to deliver excellent client experiences.
What Youll Do :
People Management, Training & Development :
- Day-to-day management of the AV Specialists & Managers in the NYC region
- Oversight of the AV Operation Specialist(AVOS) Pool for development road mapping & adherence to training standards.
- Oversight of the AVOS Convene Certification process for all relevant On The Job Training Modules.
- Interview & hire prospective candidates for all positions in the department using targeted selection.
- Participate in employee appraisals.
- Cross-train in other conference center-related areas.
- Assist with developing a healthy employee relations climate, including employee motivation & coaching.
- Participate in collaborative project efforts with both the technology team & other departments
- Stay current on industry trends in special events / meetings through benchmarking, trade publications, competitive shopping, & special event conferences.
- Review all departmental SOPs quarterly & update them as needed.
Operations Management :
- Provide ad-hoc troubleshooting & assistance to customers of all technology competency levels
- Management / troubleshooting of AV equipment, including but not limited to audio, video, lighting, computer networking systems, & hardware both in-house & client systems
- Evaluation & troubleshooting personal computer hardware & software, peripheral devices, mobile devices, & network component problems
- Preprogram coordination with client ensuring that all of their technological needs are met & in place for their arrival
- Ensure that booking guidelines are followed & that all leaders are maximizing space & revenue through audits & the weekly program execution order meetings
- Provide genuine anticipatory customer service by establishing good working relationships with Convene team members, divisions, & vendors
- Attend PEO, Pre-Con, & pre-production meetings as needed
- Direct day-to-day support of Technology Managers including financial management and scheduling
- Create weekly schedules for Technology Specialists & coordinate with various properties to share resources
- Delegate tasks to other Technology Managers, Supervisors, & Specialists
Customer Service :
- Make personal contact & maintain positive relationships with clients & assist with any reasonable requests during programs.
- Interact with Sales & Production teams to ensure a thorough understanding of the client experience with Convene prior to the start of their meeting / event.
- Liaise with the AV Sales organization to identify impactful opportunities for cross departmental collaboration in support of the Client.
- Prepare & follow-up on all sales quotes using revenue maximization techniques in accordance with Convene standard operating procedures.
- Assist in any areas of daily operation.
Administrative :
- Responsible for weekly financial reporting of client programs, tracking labor hours / dollar amounts, as well as spending.
- Direct oversight & ownership, alongside the Area Directors of Operations & GMs, of all property P&L responsibilities.
- Responsible for Vendor management including, but not limited to, labor procurement, equipment rental, & relationship management with all vendors.
- Weekly auditing of aging reports from Vendors to ensure all properties within the region are in good standing.
- Participate in the annual budgeting process for Regional properties.
- Completion of weekly / monthly status reports for the region in tandem with the Area Directors of Operations.
- Maintain & uphold Convenes cultural standards.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
- Show initiative & proactive drive to solve problems.
- Portray a polished, professional image according to Convene dress code standards.
Physical Requirements :
- Flexible, long, & weekend hours sometimes required
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, & place objects up to 25 pounds without assistance
- Ability to reach overhead & below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, & stooping
- Ability to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time
- Ability to climb & work on a ladder for lengthy periods of time
What We Look For :
- 7+ years of progressive IT & AV experience
- 5+ years experience in managing IT & AV equipment with live events
- Knowledge of computer networking / maintenance & software systems
- 5+ years experience leading team members
- Hospitality & customer service experience required
- Extensive knowledge of audiovisual equipment including analog / digital audio mixers, wireless microphone systems, seamless video switchers, & projectors / displays
- Possess a basic understanding of Crestron hardware / functionality & other control systems
- Basic knowledge of data networking principles, architecture, & applications
- Salesforce & CRM knowledge
- Experience in the basic installation, configuration, operation, & administration of operating systems, applications & hardware for Macs, PCs, LANs, servers
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google, & Apple iWorks suite of business applications
- Ability to lead & manage other team members over a geographic area while working effectively with both internal & external clients
- Experiencing supporting P&L management & budgeting processes with input from other Area & Regional Leaders
- Bachelors Degree preferred

Salary Min : $110,000 Salary Max : $125,000
This role is also eligible for Convene's annual incentive performance bonus plan.
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums & maximums may vary based on location.
Individual pay is based on skills, experience & other relevant factors.
