Holcim is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to provide leadership, design, and analysis for chemical, industrial, and advanced manufacturing facilities throughout the U.
S. This position requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering & design, with exposure to project engineering leadership.
Prior design experience with steel structures, building foundations, equipment foundations, pipe racks, and in-plant engineering is required.
Ability to work closely with other engineering disciplines, and designers is required. Active PE registration is required.
Experience with STAAD or RISA, Navisworks, and working knowledge of REVIT is desired. The Senior Structural Engineer will be asked to investigate and recommend design and construction solutions to support major CAPEX projects, organize and work with external design consultants to value engineer proposed designs, constructability, and efficiency to meet project requirements and relevant codes and standards.
Duties and responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the design, development, construction, and maintenance of structures and facilities in support of major process and plant upgrades and expansions
- Provide civil and structural engineering expertise in evaluating designs to ensure adequate and value-added infrastructure for buildings, foundations, piping supports and access walkways and other systems as needed
- Develop cost estimates for materials, equipment, or labor to determine a project’s economic feasibility.
- Provide technical guidance to team members and formally mentor some employees.
- Ensure projects progress according to schedule, budget, and specifications.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
- Lead, develop and oversee capital projects
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
- 10+ years’ experience working as a Structural Engineer in industrial design
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Licensed Professional or Structural Engineer
- Expertise in regulatory codes like; ASCE7, ICE, ICC, ACI, AISC
- Experience working with software applications like; STAAD Pro, MathCAD, Revit
- Strong project management skills with the ability to set priorities, collect and document project requirements, successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional organizational, time-management and planning skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with key stakeholder groups
- Strong written & verbal communication skills
- Microsoft Office tool skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Be willing to travel as needed to effectively manage projects
Preferred Qualifications :
- Masters Degree in Civil Engineering
- 15+ years of project management experience in the processing industries.
- Web handling and chemical processing experience.
- Plant & Engineering Management Leadership Experience
- Experience in World Class Manufacturing or Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma methodologies
- Experience with Safe Management of Change, PHAs or HAZOPs
- Experience with Regulatory Standard compliance including OSHA, EPA
