General Summary
Under the direct supervision of the General Trade Supervisor, an associate in this classification performs carpentry work as related to hospital maintenance, construction, and renovation work, painting and other types of trade related functions.

Reporting Relationships
Reports directly to the General Trades Supervisor and in general to the Director of the Department of Facilities Engineering.
Qualifications
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill and / or ability required.
- High School diploma or General education degree (GED) and / or trade or vocational school graduate with courses in shop math, blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, carpentry and wood working required.
Experience may be substituted for required education to some extent)
Requires at least five (5) years in rough and finish carpentry and completion of a four (4) year apprenticeship program.
Valid Maryland driver’s license, which must be maintained.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock.
- The associate occasionally works in high, precarious places, in outside weather conditions, and is occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold and heat, risk of radiation, and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Potential for regular exposure to communicable disease and hazardous materials requires the observance of standard precautions and safe handling practices.
