KEY DUTIES
- Support the EHS Manager in managing the site domain.
- Works closely with employees and other interested parties and applies knowledge of industrial processes and health and safety laws verifies compliance with EHS standards through auditing, observations, and inspections;
reviews, updates, and creates written procedures to verify accuracy. Recommend and implement continuous improvements at the site.
- Manage the correct application and efficiency of the site’s EMS (ISO14001).
- Act as the site’s technical referent in the areas of EHS. Extensive knowledge of safety requirements and regulations and application to processes.
Evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and programs to ensure they comply with safety regulations.
Responsible for site communications and training on EHS activities and topics. Teach employers and workers how to maintain workplace safety and conduct training to ensure safety awareness.
Coordinate with management, develop and conduct training programs in the EHS domain. Maintain associated records and needs for re-training.
Lead teams to design and develop the facility, work areas, and procedures and make EHS recommendations accordingly. Evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and programs to ensure they comply with safety regulations.
Create and implement procedures to prevent or control risks to workers.
- Facilitate Industrial Hygiene initiatives and lead the EHS group’s activities.
- Responsibilities with all EHS site events investigate events, determine root cause, perform risk analyses and CAPA use team working skills to develop best actions.
Communicate results, actions, etc., to management and interested parties (reports, presentations, etc.). Prepare written reports on findings, actions to correct, and methods to verify effectiveness.
- Track and develop EHS metrics and report results and improvement solutions to management. Ensure site compliance activities are met and documented accordingly.
- Provide leadership and support to Safety Committee. Work with management on priorities and actions, ensuring alignment with the EHS strategy.
- Act as the primary contact for all site visitors and be responsible for EHS training before their acceptance to the site (visitors, vendors, customers, contractors, etc.
This includes safety permitting and hazard analysis on work to be performed.
- Act as the EHS responsible for plant changes in the categories of EHS (fire, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, environmental, etc.).
- Manages all EHS supplies.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Performs additional duties as assigned. Be flexible.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in safety, environment health science, engineering, or related field. Experience may be considered in place of a degree.
- OSHA 30 Certification. ISO 14001 experience desired. CSP, ASP desired.
- Minimum five years of experience with high technical knowledge in the safety domain within a manufacturing environment.
At least one year of experience in environmental / health domains.
- Proven track record of driving improvements within the EHS domain with KPIs, including TCIR.
- Perform comprehensive root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies run the process from start to finish (implementation / audits of actions).
- Project management experience desired.
- Experience with powered industrial trucks desired.
- Proven experience in behavioral-based safety and ergonomics programs. Ability to influence peers in the EHS Domain and lead / support the Company Safety Coalition.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated evidence of critical thinking, logic, patience, reasoning, empathy, continuous learning, and development.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Ability to speak / read / write English and communicate with translators for non-English speaking employees.
