Knecht Home Center of Spearfish, a Mead Lumber Company, Inc. is a leading provider of products to professional contractors, construction builders and remodelers.

The primary responsibilities of the Cashier position are to provide excellent customer service, accurately and efficiently process transactions, and maintain a clean and organized workstation as well as support store management and team associates.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Learn company products, procedures, culture, and customer service philosophy.
• Greet every customer you see in the store or walk within 10’ of.
• Answer incoming phone calls.
• Count cash drawer at opening and close every day.
• Process customers quickly, efficiently, and effectively.
• Process cash, credit card, and charge transactions accurately following all company procedures.
• Attend training sessions to learn and keep current on products we sell.
• Assist with stocking of merchandise in the store.
• Listen and work with customers to solve customer's needs.
• Learn proper procedures for orders, special orders, purchase orders, credit memos, and invoicing.

Qualifications & Requirements :

• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Proficient in using computers and calculator.
• Physical strength to lift and carry 50 pounds and ability to stand for extended period of time
• Can react quickly to problems and respond to them accurately and professionally.
• Ability to form strong relationships with customers.
• Maintain a positive attitude.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills
• Previous cashier experience preferred but will train the right candidate
• Knowledge of retail computer systems and electronic cash register, preferred
• Basic computer, math, and technical skills required.
• Proficient with handling money
• Punctual
• Outstanding customer service skills
• Team Player
• Reliable
