Atlantic Packaging LTD has 6 US entities : York Container Pennsylvania, York Container Elgin, Skybox Packaging, Stand Fast Group, Blackhawk Corrugated, and Champion Container Corp;
with locations in Illinois, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
We are seeking a Plant HR Manager for the York Container plant in York, Pennsylvania.
As the Plant HR Manager, you will be a key member of the plant leadership team, working with leadership to enhance culture and employee engagement.
The HR Manager will serve as an employee advocate helping to resolve employee concerns and promote a positive work environment.
The HR Manager will oversee the business objectives for staffing, performance management, training and development, and other HR programs.
This is an onsite position in York, Pennsylvania.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as a business partner to the plant leadership team leading and directing recruitment, employee engagement, performance management, employee relations, HR programs, policy interpretation, and legal compliance.
- Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting, and administering policies and helping resolve work-related problems.
- Provide support and guidance to leadership team and advise on organizational policy matters and recommend needed changes.
This includes analyzing, interpreting, developing, and implementing HR policies, programs, and procedures as appropriate.
- Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the plant’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, and retention.
- Consult with business and / or functional leaders in areas such as organizational assessment, succession planning, organizational structure, workforce planning, and change management to strengthen overall organizational capability.
- Ensure effective talent management including assessment, development, and training of employees to ensure consistent and fair treatment.
- Navigate between tactical and strategic human resource needs in addition to being a valued team member and partner to the plant leadership team.
- Track and report HR metrics (e.g., recruiting, demographics, turnover, headcount, absenteeism etc.) and prepare various reports for the HR and leadership team.
- Create learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees;
analyze training needs to design employee development programs.
- Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Manage all HR data and activity as required in the HRIS employee system of record, ensuring timely and accurate payroll and benefit from the centralized processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the team.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field required.
- A minimum of 7-10 years of human resource management experience is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience is required.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired.
- Demonstrated success translating business goals into organizational and HR strategies and actions.
- Experience managing hourly and salaried employees in an industrial manufacturing or warehouse environment is required.
- Comprehensive HR experience, including a complete understanding of and hands-on exposure to the full mix of HR functions (e.
g., employee relations, employee engagement, performance management, recruiting and succession planning).
- Must have knowledge of local, federal, and state employment laws.
- Must be proficient in MS Office suite.
- Must have HRIS, learning management system (LMS) and other HR platform experience. Paycom experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Working Conditions
Primarily a controlled office environment; Regular exposure to loud manufacturing environment (hearing protection required in many areas of the plant);
Occasional travel for seminars, errands, etc.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift fifteen pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
