What are the primary responsibilities in the Logistics & Property Specialist position?

Reporting to the Logistics and Property Manager, this position will support logistics and government property management for a highly active and established U.

S. Government Contractor working in the defense space. Duties and responsibilities include :

  • Inspecting, receiving, tagging and posting incoming purchase orders into Costpoint and the property management system (eQuip).
  • Verifying and signing for shipments, unloading and storing received items, and processing returns.
  • Documenting and reporting discrepancies against transportation documents and the initiation of any claims against the carrier.
  • Communicating with contracts, finance, property, and others involved in the receipt of equipment and material.
  • Loading and offloading potentially sensitive equipment and materials.
  • Packaging, crating, strapping, and / or wrapping of property for commercial and military shipments in accordance with accepted regulations and standards.
  • Creating DD Form 1149’s and other required documentation.
  • Selecting commercial carriers to meet required delivery dates while ensuring lowest cost available to the company.
  • Maintaining strict housekeeping and warehouse operations in logistics and storage areas.
  • Performing annual inventory using scanners and manual updates.
  • Tracking property movements and updating the property management system as required.
  • Performing property management functions as outlined in FAR Part 45, Clause 52.245.1 and agency directives supporting U.

S. Government property audits across multiple agencies.

  • Successfully obtaining and maintaining the requisite U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Providing logistics assistance to associates and customer personnel.

This is a demanding position in a very active environment. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently and / or in teams, have high energy and strong attention to detail.

This position involves significant and continued interface with internal and external customers.

What required background will make you successful?

  • Experience in logistics operations or property management, including shipping & receiving
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, and the ability to work well in a team environment. The ability to obtain and maintain Hazmat certification
  • Must be able to lift fragile heavy items such as servers, test equipment and other delicate electronic items often exceeding 60lbs.
  • MS Office Suite : Excel and Word
  • HS Diploma
  • A sincere desire to learn and grow professionally in the area of property and logistics
  • Ability to obtain and maintain TS / SCI security clearance
  • US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED

Preferred skills :

  • Experience working with U.S. Government property
  • Experience working with Costpoint
  • Experience with eQuip
  • Certified in Hazmat shipping and handling requirements
  • Experience working with commercial and military transportation systems
  • CPPS or other related professional certification
