This Opportunity
Versar Global Solutions is seeking a full-time Electrical Technician I in West Palm Beach, FL. The Highway Electrical Technician I will assist the Journeyman or Master Electrician in the installation and repair of electrical wiring, lighting, and equipment in a safe manner.
Your Impact
- Gathers tools and supplies to be used at work site
- Measures, cuts, and bends wire and conduit
- Drills holes for wiring and pulls or pushes wiring through opening
- Traces out short circuits in wiring
- Follows Company and client Lock-out / Tag-out procedures
- Assists in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects such as wiring, conduit and motors
- Performs minor repairs such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs and switches
- Maintains tools and equipment and keeps supplies and parts in order
- Disassembles defective electrical equipment, replaces defective or worn parts and reassembles equipment
- Works from elevated locations, possibly as high as 60', sometimes near water in a bucket truck
- Performs hurricane season preparation and post-storm clean-up
- Performs Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)Temporary traffic control to support first responders and accident victims with lane closures / flagging
- Conducts pre-trip and post-trip vehicle and work site inspections
- Logs maintenance work-order information and checklists manually and electronically
- Loads and unloads equipment, supplies, tools, and material
- Uses all equipment safely
- Performs other duties as required
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- 18+ years of age
- High School Diploma / GED
- 1-2 years of Residential or Commercial Experience
- Ability to work with / volts
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and obtain a medical certification
- Valid Florida Driver’s License
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry up to 25 lbs. regularly
- Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to effectively communicate with managers and coworkers in English
- Willingness to work multiple shifts and varying hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Ability to work along local roadways, interstates, and / or highways with commuter traffic passing by at varying rates of speed
- Ability to adhere to on-call schedule and emergency call backs as necessary
- Obtain MOT certificate (coursework and certification paid for by LBS)
- Must be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate’s start date
- Successful results of pre-employment screenings, including federal background check, MVR (Motor Vehicle Record), and drug screen
