AES is currently seeking a Site Safety Leader for it s Harding Street Station (HSS) , 1,100 MW gas-fired conventional power plant located in Indianapolis.
In close collaboration with HSS site leadership, t he Site Safety Leader will proactively plan, direct, and implement the Company’s safety expectations to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment .
This role will provide direct support to the HSS site team, ensuring the O&M teams are conducting their maintenance and operations activities in a safe manner for the protection of our employees, clients, contractors, subcontractors, and the public.
The ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate strong leadership skills, work well in a team environment, have excellent communication skills, and will strive to enrich the Company Culture .
Key Responsibilities :
This position will be focused on health & s afety related matters at the Harding Street Station Natural Gas Power Plant
Collaborate with HSS leadership to ensure HSS H&S programs are maintained and implemented to high standards
Lead activities and efforts around health & safety -related incidents and investigations and p erform Root Cause Analysis in collaboration with the HSS team
Identify and build action plans and strategies through analytics
Maintain compliance with legal and regulatory health & safety requirements
Maintain and continually improve the Safety Management System
Direct, develop and deliver health & safety training programs
Contribute to achieve health & safety targets in support of business objectives .
Acts as the lead health & safety person or technical authority on complex projects
Lead, promote and implement H&S initiatives that establish and reliably deliver a high-quality safety culture and safety practices.
In close coordination with AES global H&S teams, ensure lessons-learned and resulting improvement initiatives are both shared from HSS and implemented as received from elsewhere across the company.

Key Requirements :
5+ years related experience minimum
Bachelor’s degree in EHS or related field (preferred)
In lieu of a recognized degree, having obtained an ASP, CSP, OSHA 510 or 511 certification will be expected
Experience in supporting operations and maintenance of electric power generation and / or electric utility systems and equipment (preferred)
Confirmed leadership skills
Possesses a passion for Environmental , Health and Safety
Possesses understanding of safety programs, understands how to operate with them and knows why they are in place
Ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels of an organization
Able to build relationships and trust with key stakeholders and contractors ; strong interpersonal skills
Ability to review, analyze and draw conclusions from data; effectively use the conclusions to make and communicate key recommendations
Strong computer and analytical skills
Ability to lead assigned tasks to closure while maintaining a prominent level of professionalism
