ROLE of the POSITION
The School of Public Policy and Leadership at the University of Nevada Las Vegas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Public Administration and Policy.
We seek a dynamic and visionary individual, ideally a recently minted Ph.D., passionate about shaping the urban organizational landscape through interdisciplinary research and community engagement.
The selected candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to transformative public policy initiatives and play a role in developing the research agendas of the MGM Public Policy Institute and the Tourist Safety Institute.
The MGM Public Policy Institute at UNLV :

Role within the MGM Public Policy Institute :
The successful candidate will help guide the research agenda of the MGM Public Policy Institute, involving :
Identifying emerging public policy challenges and opportunities.
Leading interdisciplinary research teams to develop innovative, evidence-based policy solutions.
Fostering partnerships with policymakers, community leaders, and other stakeholders.
Contributing to informed policy debates and decision-making through public forums, publications, and policy briefs.
The Tourist Safety Institute at UNLV :
The Tourist Safety Institute is dedicated to advancing research and developing solutions aimed at enhancing the safety and security of tourists and tourism destinations nationwide.
Role within the Tourist Safety Institute :
The appointed scholar will help guide the research direction of the Tourist Institute, involving :
Leading innovative research initiatives on tourist safety and security.
Collaborating with stakeholders to translate research findings into practical strategies and interventions.
Enhancing the Institute’s contribution to the global discourse on tourist safety through scholarly publications, policy briefs, and public engagement activities.
Faculty Position Overview :
The Assistant Professor in Public Administration and Policy will contribute to our innovative graduate programs and initiatives, and play a role in shaping our research and impact in the region.
The faculty member will develop and deliver plans to elevate our local, regional, and national programs, engaging with community leaders and policy innovators.
The role offers the opportunity to create innovative, competency-based partnerships, projects, and programs for our professional student population.
Key Responsibilities :
Contribute to shaping the research agendas of the MGM Public Policy Institute and the Tourist Safety Institute through impactful, community-engaged scholarship.
Collaborate across disciplines to drive innovative solutions to urban challenges.
Mentor students and junior colleagues in a collaborative environment.
Participate in policy-relevant work and community engagement, leveraging connections with key institutes and stakeholders.
Demonstrate adaptability and responsiveness to evolving community and academic needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a requires a Ph.D., Doctorate, or another terminal degree from a regionally accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education and / or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
The discipline for this hire is open, including but not limited to a Ph.D. or Doctorate in Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, Nonprofit Management, or a related field, such as Urban Administration, Law, and Policy Entrepreneurship.
Teaching experience online is preferred. Candidates with a related public policy / administration degree, five or more years of relevant teaching and consulting experience, and academic credentials will also be considered Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
