The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) is seeking a visionary and dynamic leader to serve as the Dean of the CSN School of Advanced & Applied Technologies.
The Dean serves as the senior academic leader for the School, overseeing three academic departments : Applied Technologies, Computing and Information Technologies, and Media Technologies.
This role involves providing leadership to more than 200 full-time and part-time faculty and staff, and managing programs that serve over 5,000 students who have declared majors in programs offered by this School.
The Dean provides strategic direction for the School, fostering an environment of innovation and excellence in teaching, research, and service.
Responsibilities include budget management, faculty and staff oversight, community representation, and ensuring program relevance and quality.
The Dean will also lead the development of the School’s Academic Master Plan and work closely with faculty to promote continuous improvement and student success.
Key Responsibilities :
Provide visionary leadership in curriculum development, program review, and strategic planning.
Coordinate annual assessment of student learning outcomes and curricular review.
Represent the School within local, state, and national communities.
Foster new program development and expansion in alignment with workforce needs.
Oversee budgetary planning and fiscal management of the School’s diverse funding sources.
Support grant acquisition and management, as well as philanthropic efforts.
Promote technological innovations in instruction and support faculty in utilizing instructional resources.
Ensure compliance with CSN and NSHE policies, as well as collective bargaining agreements.
Oversee personnel decisions for the School to include but not limited to recommendations for hiring, discipline and grievance review.
The Dean reports to the CSN Vice President of Academic Affairs (Chief Academic Officer) and serves as a member of the CSN Senior Academic Leadership Team.
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities :
Proficiency in use of a personal computer and current software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Expertise in curriculum development and revision, particularly in stackable credentials
Proficiency in assessing student learning outcomes and utilizing data for decision-making
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Ability to engage effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders
High emotional intelligence, ethical decision-making, and sound judgment
Proven ability to establish and maintain partnerships with local business and industry leaders
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in any program field that is offered within the School of Advanced and Applied Technologies or consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position, such as Higher Education Leadership, Educational Leadership, Business Administration, Public Administration or Policy from an accredited College / University
6 years of full-time experience
2 years of full-time teaching experience at the post-secondary education level in an Advanced and Applied Technologies discipline currently offered at CSN within the school
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate degree from from a regionally accredited College / University
Experience working in a multi-site community college
Experience with the development, evaluation and expansion of programs and degrees that meet workforce and industry needs and / or lead to seamless transfer
Experience with the development, evaluation and expansion of distance education and / or alternative modes of instructional delivery
Experience with grant writing and management of grant funds
Experience promoting diversity, multiculturalism, equity, inclusion, belonging and internationalism in a community college environment in support of the college’s mission, goals and strategies
Experience in student learning outcomes assessment and data-informed program review and assessment, including budget management
Experience successfully collaborating with stakeholders in creating a positive work and learning environment in support of the college’s mission, goals and strategies
Experience with accreditation processes and requirements in the post-secondary environment
Experience working in a collective bargaining environment
Salary Information
Administrative Faculty E The starting salary is $141,995
