GENERAL PURPOSE

Provides support to the city Fleet department by working with maintenance to understanding needed parts for city vehicles and obtaining those parts.

Provides support in pick-up, inspection, processing, inventorying, delivering, and / or storing parts and equipment.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Works under the general supervision of the Operations Director and receives support from maintenance and the fleet department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Drive a Company vehicle to deliver and pickup parts and equipment at sites; load and unload vehicle. Drive a Company vehicle to deliver and pickup parts and equipment at sites;

load and unload vehicle. Works with vehicle mechanics and maintenance to determine required parts for city vehicles.

Provides data entry of vehicle maintenance and records. Maintains accurate records of inspections, maintenance and repairs.

Provides insights and recommendations on repairs and maintenance.

• Picks up and receives a variety of parts and equipment from dealerships and local car part stores.
• Receives and processes delivery receipts.
• Drives and shuttles city vehicles back and forth from repair shops.
• Loads and unloads vehicles as needed.
• Assists in preventative maintenance programs on all vehicles and equipment.
• Provides reports to maintenance and Operations leadership as needed.
• Assists in winterizing, maintenance and repairs of equipment and vehicles.
• Responds to emergency calls on a 24-hour basis.
• May be required for stand-by or an on-call rotation for the Operations division and snowplow drivers.
• Always follows safety policies and procedures.
• Must work in accordance with OSHA rules and regulations and have a keen knowledge and understanding of safety requirements.
• May help and support mechanics with vehicle maintenance.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education :

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience :

• Basic understanding of vehicle and machinery parts
• Basic knowledge in small machinery equipment repair and maintenance

Additional Requirements :

• Must be at least 18yrs old.
• Requires a valid Utah Driver's License or a valid license to drive in the State of Utah.
• May be required to obtain a Class A CDL license.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check, physical and driving record check.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Working knowledge of tools, parts, equipment and vehicles, including their uses.
• Knowledge of operational hazards and standard safety practices, maintenance of equipment and vehicles.
• Ability to communicate effectively .
• Ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisor, subordinates, local agencies and the general public.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

NOTE :

In the event of a declared emergency or any undeclared emergency or natural disaster that threatens the life, health and / or safety of the public, employees may be assigned to assist rescue and relief workers.

Such assignments may be in locations, during hours and performing work significantly different from the employee's normal work assignments and may continue through the recovery phase of the emergency.
