Summary
Awork-study lab assistant position is at Mind Research Network in Albuquerque, NM.We seek a student in the biomedical sciences with excellent organizationalskills to assist our influenza lab with general functions including basicorganization, reagent preparation, database management with the opportunity tolearn molecular biology techniques.
Essentialduties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following :
Autoclaving and dish washing
Preparing general-use laboratory reagents (buffers, solutions,
Maintaining stock of items and amending an ordering database
Routine evaluation of general lab and safety equipment
Performing online research according to project requirements
Working with bacteria to produce plasmid DNA
Tissue culture with mammalian cells using sterile technique
Amplification and qualitative assessment of virus stocks
Other duties within these areas may be assigned as needed

Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability in basic math
Ability to do online research
Computer skills a must
Required :
18 years of age or older
High School Diploma
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals.
Drug Screening
Preferred :
Chemistry and Biology coursework and labs
Molecular biology, immunology, and virology coursework
Prior experience in a lab setting
Requiredupon hire :
