As the New Tooling Shop Supervisor, you will oversee the Tool and Die shop consisting of Tool Makers, Apprentices, Machinists, Helpers and a Lead.
This department supports Branch and Product development teams with the creation of dies for existing and new product lines as well as other support functions as needed.
The Supervisor is responsible for the planning and execution of short to long term objectives, maintaining existing standards, and working on continuous improvements in Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (% of Time)
Supervise, motivate, and direct team using effective performance management techniques, including establishing goals, providing recognition, and feedback and addressing performance issues.
Coach, encourage and develop employees according to their abilities. Empower employees to take responsibility for their career and performance. (40%)
Develop and execute plans to improve internal processes to achieve targeted department metrics. (25%)
Manage materials and services required to support the department by working with internal and external sources. Partner with the manager and design team to coordinate die build project and available resources. (25%)
Perform various support function tasks required. (10%)
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- Two-year certificate from college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- 5 years related manufacturing experience and / or training
- 5 years managing others
- 2 years' experience working with stamping and / or other manufacturing process
- Consistently exemplify the highest of safety standards and monitor others to the same standards.
- Consistently demonstrate reliable, punctual attendance.
- Able to apply basic algebraic and geometric concepts. Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimal equivalents.
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and related correspondence.
- Ability to use 2D / 3D CAD software and to interpret tooling and product drawings.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Simpson computer applications.
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Effectively communicate in group settings and one-on-one, with all departments and at all levels within the organization.
- Proven ability to effectively lead by motivating, coaching and mentoring team members. Ability to prioritize work and champion change.
- Able to read a tape measure to 1 / 32" tolerance and to use combination squares to measure angles to + / - 1 degree, micrometers, calipers.
- Able to use hand and power tools as well as powered industrial equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The job may risk exposure to heat and / or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.
Travel
This position requires domestic and international travel up to 10% of the time.

$82,200 - $114,000 / year
