Responsibilities
- Provide independent project management for geotechnical projects, including directing and executing geotechnical project assignments such as field exploration, laboratory services, and intermediate to complex engineering analyses, and report preparation.
- Prepare, review, and ensure timely delivery of proposals and reports to meet client commitments.
- Offer consultation during construction, oversee and provide construction-phase observations and inspections.
- Develop scopes of geotechnical investigation and prepare proposals.
- Understand client objectives, code requirements, and industry standards.
- Manage and conduct geotechnical field investigations, coordinating with subcontractors as necessary.
- Perform environmental sampling as needed.
- Prepare work plans, interpret data and test results, and generate geotechnical engineering reports, potentially overseeing other project components.
- Conduct geotechnical studies, evaluations, modeling, assessments, and investigations for specific projects.
- Coordinate geotechnical and construction materials laboratory test data.
- Apply knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures, exercising professional judgment to make modifications or implement complex features or solutions.
- Serve as a technician for construction materials testing, including nuclear gauge testing, if required.
- Maintain and cultivate client relationships while identifying new project opportunities.
- Manage projects from inception through completion, ensuring technical excellence, adherence to budget, and meeting client expectations for delivery timelines.
- May involve travel to collaborate with other NV5 office locations
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or with geotechnical emphasis, preferred.
- At least 8 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience.
- Oregon and / or Washington PE license (or ability to become registered in Oregon and / or Washington within 3 months of hire).
- Demonstrated technical capabilities and working knowledge of basic geotechnical software (LPILE, FB-DEEP, SPW911, SETTL3D, SLOPE / W etc).
Geotechnical numerical modeling skills a definite plus.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Ability to work as part of a multi discipline team, think creatively and problem solve.
- Must have valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
- Good communication, interpersonal, organizational, teamwork, and client management skills.
