The HR Generalist will assist with labor relations and human resources matters, gathering, collecting, and maintaining documentation and records required for contract and policy development, investigations, and negotiations.
This position is located in Grand Junction, CO and is contingent upon contract award.
What You’ll Do :
Handles routine labor relations and human resource inquiries related to policies, procedures, and bargaining agreements;
refers complex matters to appropriate management staff.
- Serves as the initial contact and liaison for intake and assessment of employee complaints.
- Develop an affirmative action / equal employment opportunity plan and update it throughout the contract term that complies with the Urban Mass Transportation Administration Circular 4704.1. (per contract)
- Provide sufficient administrative support personnel to support the locations staff and operations.
- Conducts initial interviews and gathers information for employee relations matters such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other concerns;
informs appropriate HR staff when additional investigation is required.
- Assists with recordkeeping related to hiring, termination, leave, transfer, and promotion particularly as related to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), affirmative action, and diversity initiatives.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of company policies, employment law, and common HR practices.
- Collects information and data to assess cost and policy implications of negotiations and disputes. This may include management and union proposals, pay scales and wages, benefits, working conditions, and other mitigating circumstances.
- Conducts surveys, interviews, and other research related to human resource policies, compensation, and other labor negotiations;
collects information and reports results to Labor Relations Manager or Human Resources Director.
- Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, affirmative action, collective bargaining, unions, labor relations, and human resources.
- Assists with preparation of documents and records required for contract negotiations, meetings, and negotiations with employee and labor organizations.
- Coordinate meetings between Union Officials, Employees, and Leadership
- Organize and maintain all CBA’s, arbitration decisions, and any other related documentation
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What You’ll need :
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field, OR equivalent work experience preferred
- 2+ years’ experience in Human Resources / Employee Relations or similar role
- Experience with working in a Union Environment
- Strong knowledge of human resources policies / procedures and knowledge of local, state, and federal employment / labor laws

- Knowledge of and ability to understand and apply federal and state employment laws (e.g., EEO, OSHA, FMLA, FLSA)
- SHRM certification, preferred
- Ability to handle a high level of sensitive and confidential matters tactfully and professionally
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work well under pressure and in stressful situations within a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and also collaboratively with others to achieve defined goals, handle inquiries, and resolve issues within a timely and constructive manner
- Consultative and customer service orientation with all levels of employees
- Demonstrated experience and skill in conducting workplace investigations, analyzing information in relation to the relevant employment laws, collective bargaining agreements, trends, policies and procedures, and use sound judgment to draw valid conclusions and / or recommendations

Salary Range : Min : $56,000

Max : $83,000
