Role and Responsibilities :

The Director of Accounting will maintain primary responsibilities for the engagement of their team (comprised of General Accountants, Fixed Assets, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Leases and others) across the broad landscape of Patrick Industries brands, principally aligned with the Recreational Vehicle, Marine, Manufactured Housing and Industrial end-markets.

Partnership and relationship management are critical requirements for this role. Working closely with Leaders throughout the Company, this role offers the ability to develop close working relationships which is critical to the success of their team and the Company.

Patrick Industries is focused on investment in continuous improvement and the Director of Corporate Accounting is expected to manage their team with a mindset of perpetual assessment of, and improvement to, systems and processes, seeking opportunities to become increasingly efficient, ensuring accuracy and positioning the business to support the organic and strategic growth of the Company.

The Director of Corporate Accounting is expected to ensure best practices are being followed and executed across the Organizations Accounting practices;

ensuring roles, responsibilities, and results are efficiently coordinated and collectively optimizing compliance with and the effectiveness of the company under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the reconciliation of financial statements and general ledgers, working with Business Units & corporate accounting team
  • Oversee the accounting operations of the Corporate office including control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures
  • Analyze special reports by summarizing data and trends
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Support Corporate Finance to strategically influence and guide Business Unit financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies, procedures and internal controls
  • Confirm best practices and compliances are being followed
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Develop, implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures to create more consistency throughout the Organization
  • Maintain an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Support the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors as needed
  • Provide internal and external auditors with financial statements and other information during year end and quarterly audits
  • Partner with the Corporate Finance Team to bridge gaps in consistent communication, accounting policy, training, etc.
  • Work closely to provide guidance and support to Business Unit controllers & leaders
  • Lead, mentor and train Corporate Accounting Team and assist in developing strategy and succession plans
  • Identify, develop, attract, and retain talent that have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to continue to the success of the department
  • Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years in leadership and management roles
  • Candidates who possess a CPA are highly desired
  • Prior experience working within a publicly traded company is highly desired
  • Working knowledge of the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act
  • Significant knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Candidates must be organized and have a high attention to detail
