Maintain the highest standards for clarity, readability and accuracyExamine body text, headlines, decks, captions, credits, charts and all other editorial components for spelling, grammar and styleSuggest possible improvements in meaning, clarity, cohesiveness, balance, "missing pieces," repetition and other problems.
Examine photos and illustrations for any possible content problems.Review all online copy for formatting errors, broken links and other usability flaws.
Provide basic fact-checking, when necessaryWork efficiently and meticulously on deadline, both independently and as part of a team;
is flexible and takes initiative to provide creative solutions to copy editing and other editorial problems.Collaborates with editors and designersExercises sensitivity to editors' objectives and writers' voices, and demonstrates writing skill, in-depth grasp of grammar and usage, and analytical judgment to incorporate changes that achieve clarity and correct style.
Contribute suggested changes to organization-wide style guideWorks well within established copy flow and procedures.Experience using Adobe InCopy or InDesign and Microsoft Office;
preferably on Macintosh.Experience working on national magazine, newspaper or website.
