Trailer Mechanic / Fabricator
Hamtramck Recycling is an Industrial / Commercial recycling center seeking a skilled and motivated Trailer Mechanic / Fabricator to join our team.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Trailer Repair : Diagnose and repair issues with trailer structures, including frames, axles, brakes, and suspension systems.
- Fabrication : Perform welding and fabrication tasks related to trailer repair, including structural modifications and component replacements.
- Inspection : Inspect trailers to identify defects and assess the extent of repairs needed. Interpret technical drawings for accurate repair and fabrication.
- Maintenance : Conduct routine maintenance on trailers, including checking and replacing components like brakes, lights, and electrical systems.
- Equipment Use : Operate welding equipment (MIG, TIG, Stick) and other tools necessary for trailer repair and fabrication.
- Collaboration : Work with maintenance and engineering teams to address and resolve trailer-related issues efficiently.
- Safety and Cleanliness : Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Experience : Proven experience as a trailer mechanic and fabricator with a strong background in welding and structural repairs.
- Technical Skills : Proficient in diagnosing and repairing trailer issues, with expertise in welding techniques and metal fabrication.
- Drawing Interpretation : Ability to read and interpret technical drawings related to trailer construction and repair.
- Mechanical Knowledge : Knowledge of trailer components, including hydraulic systems, brakes, and suspension systems.
- Tools and Equipment : Skilled in using welding equipment, hand tools, and diagnostic tools.
- Flexibility : Ability to work varied shifts and overtime as needed.
- Attention to Detail : Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant certification or training in welding, fabrication, and trailer repair.
- Experience in an industrial or commercial setting
- Previous experience as a trailer mechanic or fabricator is highly desirable.
