Job Title : Pharmacist in Charge
Job Description
Under the direction of the VP, Specialty Operations, the manager will serve as pharmacist-in-charge for the assigned pharmacy overseeing and assisting with all pharmacy operations such as prescription intake, benefits investigations, prior authorizations, pharmacist initial and final verification, and prescription fulfillment.
Additionally, this leader is responsible for ensuring excellence in patient care to our members and manages the pharmacy team to ensure our work complies with regulatory requirements and various industry standards.
The manager will monitor, develop, and train staff on standard operating procedures. The manager will develop training materials to support the staff ensuring accuracy and compliance with SOPs.
This leader is at the forefront, driving process improvement through setting the agenda and targets in consultation with specialty pharmacy leadership.
Develop, implement, and oversee all pharmacy standard operating procedures as it pertains to the practice of pharmacy. Ensuring pharmacy staff are achieving desired service levels and taking corrective action, as needed.
Actively contributes to the strategic planning and achievement of departmental goals and objectives, attending pertinent meetings when necessary.
Assisting other management team members in identifying trends and establishing performance metric goals. Respect and maintain confidentiality guidelines of HIPAA.
Ensure that pharmacy personnel are adherent to rules governing the proper practice of pharmacy. Maintain active pharmacist licensure as required to satisfy non-resident pharmacy permits required by assigned pharmacy location.
Responsible for scheduling, developing, coaching, training, and directing department personnel. Effectively communicate information to the staff and supervisors in an open and timely manner.
Handle pharmacy service-related complaints and concerns in accordance with company policy and promote a positive customer experience.
Responsible for driving, managing and developing the operations excellence program in specialty pharmacy to gain tangible business results and improvements in areas such as Productivity, Production Output, Customer Satisfaction, Quality and Safety.
Lead quality improvement programs (i.e. URAC quality projects, ACHC). Cooperates in the documentation and resolution of customer service-related issues.
Contributes to and supports an atmosphere of effective teamwork and coordination. Observe employee performance and participate in writing performance reviews.
Proficient in the execution of all pharmacist operational activities and assisting where needed. Responsible for the oversight and execution of back-end operations including;
filling, packing, shipping. Maintains compliance with board of pharmacy PDMP requirements. Oversees and manages inventory ensuring alignment with DSCSA.
Oversee and develop pharmacy training materials for pharmacy personnel. Coordinate and assist with all employee training and development.
Monitor reports and operational processes to ensure maximum efficiency. Assist in system software upgrades with testing.
Responsible for submitting any system issues or concerns to appropriate parties. Assist other departments when necessary.
Follow and aid in enforcement of all company policies and procedures. Responsible for other duties as assigned.
Hard Skills
- B.S. Pharmacy or Pharm. D. degree
- Licensed pharmacist eligible to hold pharmacist-in-charge designation
- Will be given 180 days from hire to obtain additional pharmacist licensure as required
- Five years of experience in pharmacy practicing as a pharmacist
- Experience in a specialty pharmacy is preferred
- Proficient with pharmacy processes and systems
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

This is a permanent position.
Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Lakeland, Florida.
Work Environment
This position is in a typical office environment which requires prolonged sitting and standing in front of a computer. In addition, this position requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment, including the operation of standard computer and phone.
