About the Role
Primary responsibility is to technically price both new and renewal treaty business exercising independent judgment based on comprehensive analysis of reinsurance submissions including terms, conditions, and coverage intent.
Relevant lines of business include general liability, auto liability, workers compensation, and excess / umbrella liability.
The job activities include the following :
Analyzing and performing treaty pricing by quantifying the impact of various contract features, underwriting exposures, and legal, regulatory, and societal trends.
Ability to work on a range of accounts including complex deal structures and large structured transactions.
Effectively communicating the pricing analysis to the cross-functional deal teams including senior management with the ability to articulate and support the underwriting / costing thought process in a clear, cohesive, and succinct manner.
Ability to contribute to deal negotiation strategy.
- Participate in broker and client renewal calls, meetings, and underwriting audits.
- Gain proficiency with our internal pricing and modeling tools to establish appropriate pricing and options on accounts in various structures and line of business.
Contribution to parameter update analysis, testing of pricing tools, and ad hoc analysis.
About the Team :
The Global client segment is responsible for some of the largest treaties and most strategic client relationships across direct and broker-produced channels.
The team includes senior actuaries and underwriters who work with corresponding client managers and other functions including claims, risk management, reserving, contract specialists, and legal.
The broader team is based across Armonk (NY), Schaumburg (IL), Kansas City (MO), and teleworkers.
About You :
- At least 5 years of experience in reinsurance or primary pricing or reserving for Casualty lines of business.
- Mandatory Bachelor's degree. Associate or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS or FCAS) or working towards designation.
- Outstanding communication and organizational skills are essential; ability to present complex ideas / analysis to a range of internal stakeholders and externally with clients and brokers.
- Excellent understanding of reinsurance markets, placement structures, and underwriting approaches. Ability to incorporate forward looking views of the market and commercialism in underwriting / pricing decisions.
- Ability and desire to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Natural desire and curiosity to continuously learn and self-develop.
- Experience level and qualifications will determine banding (AVP vs VP).
For Armonk, NY, and New York, NY, the estimated base salary range for this position is $83,000 to $294,000. The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity / specialization / scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget.
