PROJECT MANAGER - Substation Division
Salary - To Commensurate with Experience
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced project manager to take the lead on managing several large-scale substation projects from estimate hand off to financial close out.
This person will ultimately be responsible for the financial well-being of their projects, change order submittals, invoicing, as-built submittals, etc.
The project manager should have experience with the local utilities in NY, their standards, and their field policies and procedures.
They should have experience with project financials, profit / loss, forecasting, etc. on projects upwards of $50M.
Responsibilities
- Track project costs to meet budget
- Monitor progress and adjust as needed
- Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress
- Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement
- Determine and define project scope and objectives
- Prepare budget based on scope of work and resource requirements
- Predict resources needed to reach objectives & manage resources in an effective & efficient manner
- Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan
- Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables
- Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution
- Identify and compile change orders as needed, following them from inception through approval.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering, business, or a related field suggested, but not required if proof of field management in electrical construction
- 5-8 years of project management and related experience
- Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred, but not required
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively
- Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.
