Job Summary
This job is a support role for the maintenance department at the Weeks Island Facility. Technical skills are required to provide hands-on mine and surface assistance, including procurement, inventory management, contract reviews, and project planning support.
The individual will work to establish and maintain rapport with suppliers, vendors, and other employees, highlighting the criticality of organizational skill sets, time management, and communication techniques.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Work closely with engineering, production, and maintenance focused on procurement of materials, goods, and services for an underground mine with surface operations.
- Regular visits to the mine, mill, and surrounding surface areas to monitor mine and environmental conditions and understand the components required for operation, including equipment and building maintenance.
- Adhere to Morton’s commitment to high ethical standards, environmental stewardship, and employee safety.
- Attention to detail to identify and communicate any potential concerns.
- Work independently and in a group setting.
Specific Duties :
- Assist with procurement or inventory management.
- Establish and maintain rapport with suppliers, employees, and management.
- Become familiar with the materials, equipment, and services procured for the operations of the facility.
- Play a hands-on role in the purchasing of indirect goods and services.
- Engage in cross-functional category management activities.
- Prepare and analyze bid packages, requests for qualifications, and quotations.
- Develop an understanding of company terms of stock and non-stock material inventories, including material control, warehousing, and logistics.
- Assist with inventory consolidation and reduction projects.
Provide project and turnaround support in staging and tracking inventory.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
- Must be enrolled in an accounting, economics, finance, management, and / or engineering program.
- SAP experience is desired, but not required.
- Ability to work in an underground environment as necessary.
Field work will include underground and surface industrial environments where potential dust, high temperatures, and other industrial and mine-related hazards may be encountered.
