Position Overview :

As a Packaging Mechanic at Lupin’s Somerset facility, you will play a critical role in supporting packaging operations. Your expertise in equipment setup, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement will ensure the packaging lines operate smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards.

This position also involves on-the-job training for packaging operators, documentation management, and collaboration with cross-functional teams for optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities :

Equipment Operation & Maintenance : Set up, adjust, and operate packaging line equipment according to validated parameters.

Perform regular preventive maintenance and document work in alignment with cGMP standards.

• Troubleshooting & Emergency Support : Respond to and resolve equipment breakdowns. Collaborate with engineering teams to address irregularities in machine performance.
• Documentation & Compliance : Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and improvements. Ensure compliance with cGMP, safety guidelines, and company SOPs.
• Team Support & Training : Mentor packaging operators, ensuring skill development and safe operation practices. Foster a team-oriented environment with a focus on productivity and quality goals.
• Continuous Improvement : Work with the engineering team on machine modifications and support capital improvement projects to enhance packaging line performance.
• Vendor Interaction : Coordinate with vendors for parts procurement and service scheduling, supporting effective maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Safety & Compliance : Adhere to all safety regulations, including PPE, Lockout / Tagout procedures, and alarm system protocols.

Assist with spill containment and other environmental safety requirements.

Skills and Qualifications :

• Educational Background : Technical school degree, industrial certifications, or a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (preferred).
• Experience : Minimum 3 years in a pharmaceutical manufacturing / packaging role, with expertise in electrical systems, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
• Technical Skills : Proficiency in electro / pneumatic troubleshooting, PLC systems, industrial safety equipment, and SAP documentation.

Welding experience is a plus.

Certifications : Training in Lockout / Tagout, PPE, and Arc Flash (preferred).

Physical Requirements :

• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
• Capability to work on rooftops, ladders, and in confined spaces as needed.
• Routine use of safety equipment, including eye protection, safety shoes, and respirators.

Salary : $30-$40 / hr (plus shift differential)

Shift : 3rd shift 10 pm-6 : 15 am
