Job Description
A full-time Lab Manager is sought for the labs of Dr. Pearl Chiu, Dr. Brooks Casas, and Dr. Stephen LaConte at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech Carilion () in Roanoke, Virginia.
Projects in the labs are highly interdisciplinary and combine methods from experimental and clinical psychology, neuroscience, and behavioral economics with functional neuroimaging to investigate decision making and in-vivo electrochemistry to investigate decision-making in healthy and clinical populations focusing on adults with mood, anxiety, trauma, or substance-use disorders, and at-risk youth).
Data collection involves various modalities : behavioral tasks, imaging (e.g., fMRI, MEG), clinical interviews, and / or biological assays (e.g., urine, saliva).
Lab Managers are essential members of the labs and will be responsible for maintaining overall knowledge of all projects.
The Lab Manager will facilitate day-to-day logistics of the labs and lab members, manage project funds, and be responsible for maintain positive communication with the institute faculty and staff, as well as external collaborators.
They will also be responsible for participant recruitment across projects, data storage and organization across labs. Other duties may include general participant oversight, screening, data collection and management.
Training will be provided for all aspects of the position.
The successful team member will be highly detail-oriented, organized, and skilled with monitoring and adjusting priorities and problem solving.
For motivated individuals, there may be opportunities to be involved with data analysis. Preference will be given to candidates who are willing to make a two-year commitment.

Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and succeed in fast-paced research environment;
- Ability to work well independently and in team settings
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or equivalent.

- Coursework or degree in psychology, neuroscience, or related field
- Prior relevant research experience.
