We are searching for a dynamic, results-oriented finance expert to help guide finance support for public health financial services.
This position coordinates and supervises high-level accounting and budgetary services across multiple funding sources as part of a team of professionals directing a coordinated, centralized financial management system.

We Require
- Two years of work experience in finance, budget development, accounting, or contract and grant management
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- An equivalent combination of post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and / or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
- Three or more years of experience in finance and / or budget development and maintenance
- Experience supervising finance and accounting staff
- Experience working in governmental accounting and / or grant budgeting
- Experience working with Advantage System, InfoAdvantage, and other financial systems
Job Contributions
- Develops the annual budget and manages budget-to-actual spending for seven major clinical service programs within the Community Health & Record Services (CHRS) Division
- Supervises accounting staff by providing guidance, setting goals and performance measures, evaluating, disciplining, and coaching to achieve optimum efficiency
- Partners with outside grantors, county, and departmental finance / budget groups and oversees the business aspects of the fees collected at CHRS Division
- Collaborates with CHRS Division Administrator to analyze programs and to improve customer service delivery
- Oversees the preparation and submittal of contractor expenditure reports (billings to grantors) for grant programs
- Oversees the reconciliation of accounts receivable and closing of grants per the prescribed contract dates
- Coordinates the daily reconciliation of the program's multiple point-of-sale workstations / drawers and petty cash revenue with supervisors and staff
- Establishes standardized financial policies and procedures across the area of assignment and ensures compliance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations and laws
- Connects with the CHRS management team to create policies, procedures, and desk manuals that support the program's business operations and financial activities
Working Conditions
- Within one month of hire, all employees are required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health;
- required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza;
some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and / or a Tuberculosis test
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
- Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time
- The position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
