Project Water/Wastewater Engineer

Role description :

In this role, you will work alongside senior-level engineers and project managers to grow your expertise and technical knowledge of water and wastewater treatment design & construction engineering.

You will be a critical member of our team and be expected to support the proven reputation of excellence in Client Management / Development along with executing projects and managing project pursuits within the municipal Water / Wastewater market of this region.

Role accountabilities :

This role supports projects and clients in the planning, preliminary and final design, and construction of water / wastewater treatment plants, distribution / collection systems, and pump / lift stations as well as creating construction documents, specifications, and providing engineering services during construction.

Additional duties include :

• Lead preparation of detailed engineering calculations & analysis
• Complete design tasks within budget and on schedule
• Prepare scopes of work, cost estimates and other project documentation
• Support the work of others and mentor junior-level engineers & design / drafting technical staff
• Work directly, when assigned, with clients to determine needs and provide solutions
• Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards
• Travel (up to 25%) for client meetings, project site visits, etc.

Qualifications & Experience :

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field
• 5 or more years of related industry experience in the water / wastewater field

Key Skills and Attributes :

• Flexible to work with a variety of project teams locally and across remote offices
• Experience in development of project drawings, technical specifications, project schedules and cost estimates
• Project experience including design and construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities; focused on expansion, rehabilitation, and retrofit
• Leadership experience; including managing project delivery expectations, prioritization of tasks, and mentoring junior level staff
• Experience or desire for client facing role with skills to include preparation and development of proposals, managing client expectations and overall relationship.

Preferred Qualifications

• PE License in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and / or in other nearby states (or ability to obtain PE within 12 months of hire)
• 7-10+ years of progressively responsible experience
• Active participation in regional (local / state) and / or national professional associations
