Life University is looking for an individual to serve in the Assistant Controller position to support our Finance Department.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with Accounting Manager to coordinate daily accounting activity in the areas of payroll, accounts payable, and general accounting as needed.
• Primary administrator of the online banking function such as stop payments, wire transfers, positive pay, running daily activity reports and communicating banking information to the appropriate individuals.
• Oversees projects such as monthly and annual close out and preparation of documentation for annual audits.
• Assists Controller with all audits and ensures University compliance to federal, state and regulatory requirements and policies.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports and other related reports required.
• Assist with cash management of the federal, state and private financial aid programs.
• Perform analysis on various accounts and business activities as assigned by the Controller.
• Serves as liaison with Finance and participates as an active member of the Retirement Plan Committee
• Oversees the Payroll processing function
• Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or requested.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting / finance or related field and a minimum of 3 -5 years experience in accounting.
• Considerable knowledge of the fund accounting principles.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with the University community.
• Self motivated and able to work independently.
• Demonstrate personal and professional integrity.
• Ability to work with and maintain confidential employee information.
• Experience in development and implementation of policies and procedures.
• Team building and supervisory skills; organizational and staff development skills.

• Computer skills : Microsoft Office applications.
