Inova Alexandria Hospital is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Float Pool team on a full-time basis.
The Float Pool RN will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care across various units within the hospital during the night shift.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment while utilizing your clinical skills to their fullest potential.

Unit Assignments :
- Acute Care General Units : Unit 23 (Med-Surg) Unit 26 (Ortho Surgical) Unit 4N (Medical Oncology)
- Acute Care Tele Units : Unit 21 (Cardiac Tele) Unit 25 (Cardiac / Neuro)
- Intermediate Care (IMC) : Unit 28 (Cardiac / Pulmonary)
- Intensive Care Units (ICU) : MSICU (Medical Surgical ICU) CVNICU (Cardiovascular Neurosurgical ICU)
Patient Ratios :
- Acute Care General Units : 1 : 5
- Acute Care Tele Units : 1 : 4
- IMC : 1 : 3-4
- ICU : 1 : 1-2
As a Float Pool RN you’ll provide exceptional patient care and peer support across our adult medical / surgical / telemetry units.

- Provides knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patient, family, nurse, and healthcare delivery team.
- Consistently provides safe, therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way. Incorporates differences into the provision of care.

- Integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum, to include patient and family education.
- Uses an integrated approach toward patient outcomes.
- Serves as an empowering body to influence patient empowerment, and successful outcomes of financial and clinical quality, through relationships and access-based knowledge.
Utilizes standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery.
- Determines process for delivery of care from direct patient and family communication, technology, and other healthcare team member collaboration.
- Ensures improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development in life-long learning
Requirements :
- 2+ years of acute care RN experience
- Education : BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
- Certifications : BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification (American Heart Association) required. ACLS and PALS or other advanced certification required within 6 months.
- Licensure : licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse.
