OVERVIEW :
The Food Services Manager is responsible for overall food services of the San Francisco Harbor Light Center programs and activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Plan and execute weekly menus, preparation of meals, and other events as scheduled
- Purchase food and supplies as needed based on shortages and meal plans while staying within budget
- Ensure that meals meet adequate levels of nutrition and sustenance
- Utilize the Food Bank weekly
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen and staff
- Ensure compliance with all service-related contracts for the Harbor Light Center and its programs
- Maintain required records of the kitchen
- Oversee kitchen inventory
- Manage employee schedules, time off requests, and payroll submission
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of food service equipment on a semi-weekly basis
- Ensure kitchen and dining room meet cleanliness standards
- Participate in weekly Director meetings
- Manage catering services
- Manage food storage according to code
- Attend workshops and seminars related to food service delivery
- Respond to any situation requiring culinary support in emergencies
- Supervise all kitchen volunteers and program participants who are assigned to complete chores
- Ensure all kitchen staff maintain and are up to standard in trainings
- Assist in the recruitment and hiring process to fill vacant kitchen positions
- Other related duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- CA driver’s license (required)
- Experience in institutional food services setting or similar (2 years required)
- Experience in food services as a supervisor (2 years required)
- Experience working in a drug and alcohol recovery setting (preferred)
- Experience in ordering logistics with familiarity with local distributors
- Manager-level California Food Handler’s Card or ServSafe Certificate (within first fourteen days of employment company provided)
- TB clearance (within the first seven days of employment company provided)
- Health screen clearance (within the first seven days of employment company provided)
- First Aid and CPR certification (within first fourteen days of employment company provided)
