Job Description
General Summary
Participating in a Certified Nursing Assistant program approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON), this is a training role working under the direction of professional nursing staff to provide direct patient care.
Practices clinical skills to gain experience in acute care / hospital setting under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed at the completion of this program.

- Provides individualized care to meet the needs of the patient.
- Performs and / or assist the patient with personal grooming and hygiene, including CHG bath or soap / water complete bath.
- Performs and / or assists patients with eating and drinking and educates patients on the importance of food and basic nutrition and nutrition’s role in health and illness..
- Identifies and applies basic observational recording and reporting skills
- Obtains intake and output data for a variety of patients and records / reports results.
- Utilizes and documents patient care in the electronic health system.
- Uses proper infection control techniques.
- Positions the patient with ambulation. Performs range of motion exercises.
- Understands activities of daily living (ADLs). Assist patients with toileting.
- Performs selected treatments including mental health on a variety of patients as directed and / or supervised.
- Prepares patients for surgery and cares for them afterwards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Must be participating in Certified Nursing Assistant program approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON).
