Laboratory Director (Full-time / Perm) Onsite NE

Leading US Lab Testing Facility seeks a Lab Director for an onsite permanent opportunity located in Nebraska. 10+ years technical lab expertise with knowledge of food microbiology testing methodologies, proximate, and analytical chemistry methods and instrumentation are required.

This individual is also required to have 7+ years management, having managed a minimum of 30 individuals. A history in various food microbiology testing and methodologies to include CMMEF, BAM, AOAC and others are also required.

Lastly, this person must have expertise managing P&L of over $9MM and extensive knowledge of ISO 17025 and AOAC Food guidelines.

Requirements :

• US Citizen or Green Card Work Authorization; Residency in the US.
• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field; master’s is preferred but not required.
• 10+ years technical Lab experience.
• 7+ years management experience with a minimum of 30+ Direct Reports.
• Knowledge of food microbiology testing and methodologies to include MLG (microbiology lab guidebook), BAM (bacterial analytical manual), AOAC (association of official analytical collaboration testing), USP (united states pharmacopeia testing), ISO, and CMMEF (compendium of methods for microbiological examination of foods)
• Knowledge of proximate and analytical chemistry methods and instrumentation.
• Experience managing Profits & Loss of a minimum of $10MM.
• Knowledge of working within ISO 17025 requirements and AOAC Food Guidelines.
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required, with LabWare LIMS desirable.

Responsibilities :

• Providing overall leadership to testing laboratory, while managing a staff of up to 60 (depending on lab volume) and their activities to ensure exceptional reliability, timeliness, and accuracy of test results.
• Implementing strategic business initiatives while consistently producing accurate test results, maintaining client needs, communications, and continuous improvement.
• Interacting with clients and projects regularly, to include delegation of resources and facilitation of inter-company and departmental initiatives to meet needs.
• Providing operational, technical and administrative support for all departments through management, planning and resource allocation.
• Managing staff performance through one-on-one meetings, evaluations and training.
• Mentoring and guiding personnel to facilitate their professional and personal growth.
• Supporting regular production to ensure accurate results, while also ensuring on time delivery of all projects and that turnaround times are met.
• Ensuring results consistently uphold internal and external audit criteria and standards.
• Maintaining best practices and processes while continuously improving accuracy, productivity and efficiency.
• Ensuring appropriate equipment and technical resources are provided and maintained for various clients and projects.
• Overseeing and ensuring the proper execution of QA and QC programs.
• Ensuring operations and documentation are within ISO 17025 requirements and that all other accreditations are met and upheld.
• Collaborating with various colleagues in the maintenance and continuous improvement of all laboratory systems.
• Working effectively with VP of Operations to meet business and individual expectations.
