Primary Responsibilities :

  • Assemble and submit state rate filings for approval in the Student market
  • Understand and interpret key drivers of health care trends
  • Conduct and evaluate studies on pricing, utilization and health care costs and manage the development of pricing methodologies and assumptions
  • Work with Accounting and Reserving to compile monthly financial results to be shared with Finance and Leadership
  • Design and run complex data programs to perform mathematical analyses and actuarial modeling
  • Analyze forecasts and trends and translate highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences including senior leaders

You'll be a trusted subject matter expert who's called on to incorporate traditional actuarial expertise into novel, cutting edge actuarial solutions.

Positions in this function analyze and implement changes that impact the foundational pricing and risk assumptions.

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of Actuarial experience in the Health field
  • Advanced or higher level of proficiency with Excel

Preferred Qualifications :

  • ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) designation
  • Experience working with regulatory filings
  • Basic or higher level of proficiency with Tableau, SAS (Statistical Analysis System) and / or SQL (Structured Query Language)
  • All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, Washington, D.C. Residents Only : The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc.

In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
