Responsibilities of the Wound Care Nurse (Full Time, Days)
- Develop and recommend WOC plan of care for patients throughout their post-operative course
- Directs agency-wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention, wound care and ostomy care, to include supporting pressure ulcer prevalence data collection, evidence-based policies, procedures, and protocols, and advisement of appropriate support surfaces, products, and staff decision-making algorithms.
- Develops and conducts educational programs and clinical instruction for staff and students enrolled in Emory University's Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program
- Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers
- Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs in respect to wound and ostomy care
- Recommends the equipment, materials, and resources needed to successfully implement a wound or ostomy care plan
- Performs appropriate pre-operative stoma site marking and ostomy education
- Develops and conducts post-operative ostomy education and ostomy care plan for the patient and family.
- Reports to the Senior Nurse Manager, Wound Ostomy Continence Program
Requirements for the Wound Care Nurse (Full Time, Days)
- RN Active License State of Georgia
- Current Wound and Ostomy Certification required (CWOCN or CWCN)
- Minimum three (3) years of total nursing experience
- Minimum two (2) years of recent WOC nursing experience
- Current BLS certification
- Self-directed, independent thinker who possesses a high level of autonomy and flexibility
