A Brief Overview
The SR. Research Scientist & Data Analyst is responsible for providing data research and support services for all the organization's active research projects, including criminal justice data analysis, state and local jurisdiction master planning, confined offender and community supervision population forecasting, internal prison classification evaluation and validation, pre-trail and incarceration risk and needs assessment, and landscape and benchmark reporting for US based clients.
The role will support the development of research and analysis reports, complex data file merging and manipulation, data analysis, generation of data descriptive reports, statistical and simulation model forecasting, report writing, forward facing presentation preparation, and other related tasks.
Additional duties also include involvement in research development, client correspondence, and public presentations.
What you will do
- Analysis support to conduct data analysis on client-provided external data files, including aggregate file collapse techniques and match-merge with multiple rules and linking variables.
- Data manipulation of files to produce summary tables, charts and trend analysis for reports and public facing research presentations.
- Conduct primary and secondary research, data collection and data analysis as projects dictate.
- Support and assist with input for drafting reports, including results and actionable recommendations.
- Support senior staff with development of presentations, papers, and proposals.
- May travel to client sites based on business needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Sciences, Social Science, and / or Criminal Justice. Required
- 4-6 years years of experience in research and analysis. Required
- Expertise in conducting research, data analysis, and multi-file data manipulation. Should have experience using SPSS for data analysis but flexible with candidates with high level competency in similar analytic packages.
- Excellent writing, communication, and teamwork skills are essential.
- Previous experience in a field related to criminal justice, preferably in a government agency or consulting environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency with all Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, and Publisher.
- Excellent oral communication and remote work communication skills and organization required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
