GENERAL SUMMARY :
Performs interventional radiology and invasive cardiology procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses radiologic technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

- Assists Interventional Radiologist or Cardiologist in all types of procedures performed with angiography, fluoroscopy and ultrasound.
- Practices radiation and laser safety for patients, staff and self.
- Uses sterile technique as required.
- Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors. Records, analyzes and documents clinical patient information;
recognizes and communicates arrhythmias; monitors arterial and / or venous pressure lines.
- Functions in the first scrub role by preparing, organizing and anticipating needed instruments, supplies and equipment for safe patient care for interventional radiology and invasive cardiology procedures.
- Utilizes hospital and department computer systems, files and PACS to review patient history and to provide accurate documentation of studies to include patient clinical information.
- Properly cares for and images patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.
- Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families and other hospital staff to ensure quality patient care;
shares pertinent information regarding patient conditions with physicians, nurses and other professional staff as needed for patient care.
- Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
- Provides information to patients and families to reduce anxiety and convey an attitude of acceptance, sensitivity and caring.
- Participates in the department's quality improvement plan as required. Initiates problem solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with peers.
- Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies supervisor of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
- Keeps work area properly supplied.
- Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Graduate from a school of radiologic technology with current certification or eligibility for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
Valid Nebraska state medical radiographer license required.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS :
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
